Join the Richmond Region Tourism Foundation for our free I Am Tourism (IAT) Ambassador Workshop and discover what makes the Richmond Region such a vibrant, can’t-miss destination. This fun, interactive experience gives you the inside scoop on the places, flavors, history, and hidden gems that make RVA shine. From must-see attractions and local restaurants to festivals, outdoor adventures, and family favorites, you’ll see our region through a whole new lens.

You’ll also learn how tourism powers our local economy, supports small businesses, and helps tell the story of our community — all while connecting with fellow residents who share your pride and passion for the Richmond Region.

I Am Tourism workshops are designed for:

- Longtime residents and newcomers to the region

- Front-line hospitality professionals

- Restaurant and service industry staff

- Corporate, nonprofit, and small business teams

- Anyone curious to learn more about the Richmond Region

Graduates receive:

A regional attractions guest pass with free and discounted admission to local museums and experiences

A Kings Dominion ticket

A certificate of completion designating you as an I Am Tourism Ambassador

An I Am Tourism lapel pin

An official Richmond Region I Am Tourism Ambassador Toolkit

After completing the workshop, participants may volunteer to represent the Richmond Region at conferences, tournaments, and special events throughout the year. Graduates also have the opportunity to continue their learning by enrolling in the 6-week I Know Richmond program, presented by The Valentine.

Wednesday, May 20 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., in Henrico County at the Richmond Raceway

The I Am Tourism Ambassador Program is a fun, high-energy experience designed to deepen your knowledge of our region’s incredible attractions, hidden gems, and tourism assets. You’ll gain valuable insights into how tourism fuels our local economy and walk away ready to confidently represent the Richmond Region wherever you go.

The program includes:
A 90-minute interactive classroom session packed with insights, stories, and practical takeaways
An engaging Richmond Region bus tour led by one of The Valentine Museum's knowledgeable guides, bringing our history, neighborhoods, and tourism assets to life

Whether you’re welcoming visitors at a special event or simply sharing recommendations with friends and colleagues, you’ll leave inspired, informed, and proud to say: I Am Tourism. 

Upon completion of the full training, participants will receive:
A certificate of completion
An I Am Tourism Ambassador lapel pin
A regional digital attractions guest pass to experience the region’s offerings firsthand

Participants must attend the entire class to graduate as an I Am Tourism Ambassador. Each class is limited to four participants per organization.
