Celebrate Richmond 250

The Voice of American Liberty

Richmond 250 bumpRichmond is more than just a historic region, it’s where the fight for American independence found its voice. It was here, at St. John’s Church, that Patrick Henry delivered his immortal “Give me liberty, or give me death!” speech that ignited a fire for liberty that swept through the colonies and helped rally the cause of independence. And Richmond’s influence on the founding of our nation didn’t stop there. The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom, enacted here and penned by Thomas Jefferson, helped lay the foundation for the First Amendment.

As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence, we invite you to explore the region where words became revolution, and ideals became law. From historic sites to living legacies, Richmond offers an unforgettable journey into our shared past. Richmond has always had a Revolutionary spirit—and that spirit lives on today.
