GETTING AROUND THE RICHMOND REGION
Welcome to your easy-to-navigate destination
The Richmond Region covers a pretty big area, but as the locals say, you can get pretty much anywhere in 20 minutes. Within minutes, you can go from the bustle of our vibrant downtown to rolling Virginia farmlands, state and national parks and historic landmarks.
BY CAR
Here, traffic means it might take 10 minutes to get somewhere instead of 5. Want to let somebody else take the wheel? Relax in a taxi, Uber or Lyft. We’re also an EV-friendly destination, with charging and supercharging stations across the region.
BY BIKE
This is a big biking town – we’ve got dedicated lanes through downtown and in our counties, and the Virginia Capital Trail can take you all the way to Williamsburg. There are plenty of places to rent a bike in the region, too. Choose from electric or people-powered.
BY SEGWAY
The Segway is more than a means of transportation; it’s an experience unlike anything you’ve tried before. Instead of lacing up your walking shoes or piling into the car, experience a Segway Tour as you take in some of the region’s most postcard-worthy sites.
BY BUS
The Richmond Region’s bus service, GRTC, has recently expanded their service, and it now includes express service that runs from the riverside community of Rocketts Landing through downtown Richmond to the shopping mecca of Short Pump (with lots of great places – including a craft beer neighborhood --- in between.)
BY SHOE LEATHER EXPRESS
The Richmond Region is walkable. Whether you’re staying at a downtown hotel or walking from your hotel to shopping at Short Pump Town Center, this is a pedestrian-friendly place.
